Autumn To-Do List

Autumn is in full swing! Mornings and evenings in Roxborough are crisp, aspen trees are hanging onto remaining gold leaves, and the deer are raiding what’s left of gardens. Even though we are experiencing a warm October, winter is just around the corner and Roxborough residents should be prepping their homes and landscapes for the cold months ahead. Below are a few tasks that should be on your immediate to-do list.

Furnace Tune-Up

Schedule a technician to inspect your furnace to make sure the system is in good shape for the coming months. Inspections should be scheduled sooner rather than later. After all, this is their busy season. Contact Roxborough Heating & Air Conditioning LLC at (303) 910-7072 or Top Water & Heating at (720) 408-5380 (Roxborough Business Association members)  to schedule your appointment.

Inspect Your Roof and Gutters

Take a look at your roof to make sure their aren’t any missing or cracked shingles. Flat roofs should be cleared of leaves and inspected for cracks as well. You’ll also want to check your gutters while your up there. Remove leaves and other debris and caulk any cracks.

Irrigation and Outdoor Faucets

Soon we will be reaching below freezing levels at night. Therefore, it is important to disconnect garden hoses from outdoor faucets and drain lawn-irrigation systems to prevent damage. Contact ColdSnap Sprinklers & Landscape at (720) 348-1111 (another Roxborough Business Association member) to schedule an appointment.

Lawn Care

Now is the time to cut your grass, aerate, reseed and apply turf builder. Doing this now will result in a better looking lawn come spring.

Purchase Winter Essentials

Once the first snow falls, you won’t be the only one making a special trip to the store for items such as salt and ice melt. Get a head start and purchase your stuff now so you don’t have to stress when you actually need it.
