For anyone seeking family-friendly holiday events close to Roxborough, take a short drive up Wadsworth to Chatfield Farms for its brand-new Santa’s Village event.
Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield Farms has revamped its Christmas lights attraction, this year unveiling Santa’s Village at Chatfield Farms. The event is replacing Chatfield Farms’ previous holiday celebration, Trail of Lights, with more lights and interactive attractions, which may be especially exciting for kids.
Among the magic included in the price of admission is a meet-and-greet with Santa Claus, during which attendees can take free pictures of their little companions confessing their Christmas wishes to St. Nick. Mrs. Claus will also be nearby for crafts and Christmas songs. Please note that Santa will be very busy on Christmas Eve and unavailable on this night only.
A one-way hayride per admitted person takes visitors from one end of the farm near the barn to the other near where the farm animals, who will be in their homes for the night, are kept. Several hayrides may run at a time and will be pulled by either a tractor or a pair of Clydesdale horses.
Santa’s Cinema, featuring short holiday movie clips, can be found in a tented area near the barn and the enchanting elf village. Pro tip: A number of families have one adult visit the cinema with the children while another holds their place in line for the hayride.
Plentiful parking is free. Be sure to check the weather beforehand and dress appropriately. Walking through the lights can get a bit chilly at night, but there are warm food and drinks available for purchase, in addition to a large fire pit in front of the office.
Santa’s Village is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings from 4:30 to 8:30, with last entry at 7:30.
Prices are $20 for adults and children age 3-15, with children 2 or younger admitted for free. The price is $15 per member adult or child, $15 for seniors 65 or older and $15 for military. A six-pack of tickets is available for $85 by calling 720-865-3500.
