The 5th Annual Roxborough Music Festival sure did live up to the hype – it was bigger and better than ever!
The Roxborough Music Festival kicked off festivities Friday night with a dance party. A country line dance demonstration was provided by Rox Stompers, a Zumba demonstration by Snap Fitness and several other dance demonstrations by local kids. In between demonstrations DJ Steve Kohnstamm from Ultimate Sounds amped up the crowd and fundraising activities were initiated for the Roxborough PTIC.
The main event started at noon on Saturday, September 12th with Tonight We Rise! on the Main Stage followed by Dayna Chafe on the Cafe Stage. Over 25 local businesses set-up booths advertising services ranging from insurance to car repair and selling products ranging from clothing and accessories to photography and honey by local Boy Scouts.
There wasn’t a shortage of activities to entertain kids. Two bounce houses, face painting and balloon animals were made available to kids. Michael Hill with Life Cycle Balloon Adventures excited kids with a hot air balloon basket and burner demonstrations while Slackline Industries provided a couple slacklines for hands-on entertainment. Angel’s Share Wine Pub and Waterton Tavern were serving up food and drink specials all day while the cotton candy machine didn’t stop cranking out sugary blue and pink clouds for the young and old alike.
After the sun set, the dance floor filled up and the Tyler Walker Band closed the night with top country hits while fire dancers entertained the crowd. The success of the event is credited to to all that volunteered, donated and sponsored. For a complete list of sponsors, please visit the Roxborough Music Festival’s website. Monies raised for the Roxborough PTIC, Hands Across Roxborough and the Love, Hope, Strength foundation are still being totaled – follow the Roxborough Music Festival’s Facebook page for updates.
